Our solidarity commitments

Cooling down,
a right for everyone.

Students, pregnant women, older people: heat doesn't affect everyone the same way. ClimLoc works to make air conditioning accessible to those who need it most — with a 10% discount and priority support.

Why we do it

Heatwaves widen inequality.

Extreme heat events are multiplying in France: nine of the ten hottest years on record have happened after 2010. In Paris, tropical nights — when temperatures never drop below 20°C — have become routine.

But not everyone has the same resources to adapt. A poorly insulated top-floor studio, a pregnancy, old age: three situations where a few extra degrees become a real health risk.

ClimLoc can't solve everything. But we can make our service more accessible to those who need it most — that's what this programme is about.

Three audiences, three vulnerabilities

Who is concerned
and why.

01 — Students

Housing that wasn't built for the heat

Maid's rooms, top-floor studios, university residences: student housing is among the most exposed. Poorly insulated and poorly ventilated, they can exceed 32°C in summer — incompatible with sleep or focus during exam periods.

  • Tiny units on top floors under poorly insulated roofs
  • No permission to install a fixed AC (tenants)
  • Limited budget, little room to buy equipment
  • Exam and thesis season hits right in the heat
According to France's Student Life Observatory, 1 in 3 Paris students lives in under 20 sqm. Under the roof, these flats can be up to 8°C hotter than the outside temperature.

02 — Pregnant women

Thermoregulation under serious strain

Pregnancy raises baseline body temperature and tires the body. Extreme heat is associated with higher risk of preterm birth, dehydration and orthostatic hypotension. Keeping a room cool isn't a luxury — it's a health measure.

  • Increased preterm birth risk above 32°C indoors
  • More frequent dehydration and drops in blood pressure
  • Disrupted sleep, critical in the third trimester
  • Official recommendation: at least one room at 26°C max during heatwaves
France's public health agency (Santé publique France) explicitly recommends that pregnant women spend several hours a day in a cool (ideally air-conditioned) space during heatwaves.

03 — Seniors (65+)

The first victims of heatwaves

With age, thirst sensation declines and sweating becomes less efficient. People over 65 account for the majority of heatwave-related deaths in France. The 2003 heatwave remains a warning: 15,000 deaths, mostly older people isolated at home.

  • Naturally weakened temperature regulation
  • Reduced thirst sensation, risk of silent dehydration
  • Chronic conditions worsened by heat (cardiac, renal)
  • Isolation at home during summer holidays
The 2023 Santé publique France report indicates that 75% of heat-attributable deaths in France concern people aged 75+.

Frequently asked

We answer your questions.

Who is eligible for ClimLoc's solidarity pricing?
+
Students (with a valid student card), pregnant women (with a simple declaration or a medical certificate) and seniors aged 65+ (with proof of ID) can benefit from our discounted rates on portable AC rentals.
What discount is applied to vulnerable customers?
+
A 10% discount on the rental price, valid on any duration and any model. It stacks with our free delivery across Paris.
How do I claim the discount when ordering?
+
Place your order as usual, then contact us by phone, WhatsApp or email before delivery with your proof. We apply the discount and refund the difference within 48 hours.
Why are pregnant women particularly at risk during heatwaves?
+
Pregnancy raises baseline body temperature and reduces the body's ability to regulate heat. Extreme heat is associated with a higher risk of preterm birth, dehydration and low blood pressure. France's public health agency recommends keeping at least one room at 26°C max during heatwaves.
Why are older people more vulnerable to heat?
+
With age, the sensation of thirst fades and sweating becomes less efficient. People over 65 account for the majority of heatwave deaths in France. A cool room is one of the most effective protective measures.
Are students in precarious housing eligible?
+
Yes. Student housing (maid's rooms, top-floor studios, university residences) is often poorly insulated and regularly exceeds 30°C in summer. Our portable ACs require no work and are well suited to short-term rentals.
Do you offer help with installation for older people?
+
Yes. Our service includes home delivery and full installation by our technicians at no extra cost. We explain how the unit works and stay reachable 7 days a week by phone.
What should I do during a heatwave alert?
+
We prioritise orders from vulnerable customers (pregnant women, seniors, isolated people) during heatwaves. Call us at +33 1 59 13 39 64 — we do everything we can to deliver within 24 hours, even at peak season.
